Pin the heavy canvas to the drill pieces fitting them inside the marks you have just made. Using a wide zigzag stitch or a gather stitch; tack the heavy canvas pieces to the drill sewing about 1-2 cm inside of the canvas edges. When checking the fit of the bodice in the next steps, this means that you can easily trim away some extra canvas without having to unpick the seams. |

Boning your bodice:
- You will need a minimum of 2 rows of boning. Measure the length between the top edges of the canvas down to the bottom edge at least 1 inch apart.
- Measure and cut Ridgilene boning to fit.
- With a candle or a lighter (parents supervise you kids) melt the ends of the Ridgilene to prevent the ends from fraying and cutting through the bodice.
- Sew onto bodice as shown, sewing the edges - so that the Ridgilene becomes a casing you can slide the steel bone into.
- Measure the steel bones (available from Rosemary and Vena Cava Designs) and slide them in.

Tack your bodice together at the shoulders, and side seams.
Try it on inside out - canvas facing out. Pin, or with the help of a friend hold, the front closed along the canvas edges.
This is you final opportunity to check the fit. So recheck the side seams and shoulders so that they are tight. Arm holes should not rub, but also not be too low. And the check the neckline by jumping up and down and bending over - well, for the obvious…
